In our weekly series on handgun reviews, we tackle the Glock 30. The Glock 30 is perhaps the perfect hand gun for those in the market for something built well, on the smaller side, yet still extremely powerful. For those who are wanting something a bit smaller than the Glock 21, but keep all of the great features and amazing stopping power that the Glock 21 offers, it is the Glock 30. The Glock 30 remains a .45 caliber while having the smaller size of the G23. The gun weighed in at 24 ounces unloaded. Add an extra two and a half ounces for the magazine. It has a 3.78 inch barrel length with a 6.77 inch overall length. The height is at 4.76 inches. Magazine capacity is 10 with 9. The trigger pull is very smooth at five and half pounds. It has a distance length of a half of an inch. The over all comfort of shooting is really good. Even for smaller, average, and bigger hands, the grip size will be fine. This model is also super accurate for a shorter barrel. There is kickback but a much lower kickback than one would think. This lower recoil makes the gun suitable for a much wider variety of owners. It is over all controlled a lot easier than you would expect. This would also makes it perfect for those wanting a gun to get their concealed weapons permit for the first time. The Glock 30 offers all the features as you have come to expect with Glock. It is very reliable. It comes with the usual same three safeties and the Safe Action Trigger with constant double action mode. The new 30's were developed with the absolute minimum size needed to hold 10 rounds. They are also compatible with the larger capacity clips, if you were to already have them. While this model might not be the first pick for all police officers that are on duty, they would be a great off duty gun to carry. They would be absolutely perfect for a civilian that wants to carry a gun with max power in a the smallest possible size. Even though this model is smaller, there is no way it can be carried in anything other than a side holster. It is just to big for a boot backup. Glocks are known for their durability. This is a major reason why seven out of ten police officers carry them as their primary weapon. As always, keep your unit maintained and it is sure to last you a very long time. So if you are in the market for your first gun or just a new Glock for your collection, this small reliable yet powerful hand gun would be a great choice. The new Glock 30 and also the new Glock 29 are out and available right now.
